Siegburg is a district town and administrative seat of the Rhein-Sieg district and is located 8km west of the Rhine. Thanks to their central location and good transport connections, the cities of Cologne and Bonn are only a few minutes away by car. The traditional, lively city at the foot of the Michaelsberg, the symbol of the city, offers its guests a varied program for every requirement in addition to numerous historical sights. For example, the baroque abbey building from 1064 of the former Benedictine monastery - today headquarters Catholic education organizations - the Church of Sankt Servatius with the famous church treasure, or the city museum with its city history collection. The historic marketplace not only becomes the scene of the Siegburg ceramic market every year, which is based on the city's centuries -old ceramic craft, but also the backdrop of the medieval Christmas market. Many events are offered in the city center of Aachen over the year, e.g. in September a handicraft market and in winter one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Europe, which extends through the narrow old town along the enchanting half -timbered houses. All of this leads to a high quality of life of the city and makes Aachen a popular place of residence and excursion.
